Cool Calm Collected is run by Andrew Short and David Thompson, whose dream was to move away from London and start afresh in the country, which has now become a reality. We decided on Barnstaple in North Devon because it has individuality, whilst being an incredibly friendly place.

Three elegant rooms of divine interior must-haves house exclusive designer lines: Nigella Lawson's Living Kitchen, Burleigh ceramics, Greengate, Linum, The Big Tomato Company and Martin Gulliver.

All are new in town and are exclusive to our store. Whatever you fancy, this store will be right up your street.

Cool Calm Collected is run by David Thompson and Andrew Short:

David Thompson has worked in the film industry for more than thirty years. He was chief hair designer on Titanic for which he was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA award. He has worked on many other films - French Lieutenant's Woman, Sliding Doors, Nicholas Nickleby, and Emma to name a few.

Alongside his film career David has always had a love for Interior Design and as well as renovate and design his own homes he has advised on many other projects as diverse as a Suffolk Farmhouse to a Docklands Pent House from a Seaside Cottage to a Georgian Town House.

David Joined forces with his partner Andrew Short to create Cool Calm Collected

Andrew's background is in Costume for the Film industry and Theatre. He worked as a freelance costumier working for the RSC, The National Theatre and The Royal Opera House among many others. This combined with a love of textiles both antique and modern led him to experiment in creating beautiful objects for the home. From quilts made out of antique silk and lace to cushions made from 18th century toile and ticking. He began to get commissions for these one off objects and combined this to run in tandem with his costumier work.

David and Andrew;s combined talents led to the opening of Cool Calm Collected in November 2004. The shops was welcomed with open arms and has a growing reputation and a loyal customer base. They felt that the next logical step was to get the shop on-line so that local customers and some of the many visitors to Devon who discover us can see our shop at any time.
